Key responsibilities
* Assist the Head Chef in menu planning and development
* Oversee food preparation and cooking, ensuring consistency and quality
* Train and mentor kitchen staff, ensuring they follow best practices
* Manage inventory, ordering, and food cost control
* Collaborate with the kitchen team to maintain a clean and organised workspace
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
* Act as Head Chef in their absence
The Ideal Sous Chef
* Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role
* Assisting the Head Chef in the preparation and design of all food menus
* Producing high quality plates both design and taste wise
* Manage and train kitchen staff, establish working schedule and assess individual team members performance
* Resourcefully solve any issues that arise and grasp control of any problematic situation
* Culinary degree or relevant certification
* Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and principles
* Leadership and team management skill
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Ability to work in a high-pressure kitchen environment
* Creativity and passion for food
* Manages food and product ordering by keeping detailed records and minimises waste
* Supervises all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards
