Senior Structural Engineer
Vertical Recruitment are working with a well established civil and structural engineering consultancy that has recently invested in a modern Manchester city centre studio. The business delivers projects across a broad range of sectors and, due to an increase in workload, is looking to appoint a Senior Civil and Structural Engineer to support ongoing growth within the team.
The Opportunity - This is a senior project delivery role suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys technical responsibility, project management and mentoring junior staff. You will take ownership of civil and structural design on your projects, act as the lead C and S consultant and work closely with clients and the wider design team to ensure high quality outcomes.
The consultancy works on projects of varying scale and complexity, offering engineers the opportunity to be involved from concept through to construction. Projects span multiple sectors across the UK, allowing exposure to both technically challenging and design led work.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Delivering and managing civil and structural engineering design across multiple projects
• Acting as lead C and S consultant and representing the business at key project stages
• Producing and reviewing calculations, sketches, drawings and technical reports
• Applying stability, load assessment and risk reduction principles to designs
• Coordinating with architects, services engineers and other disciplines
• Managing workloads, programmes and project budgets
• Mentoring and supervising graduate and junior engineers
• Undertaking site inspections and reporting during construction phases
• Supporting fee bids and technical submissions when required
• Ensuring QA, H&S and company standards are consistently met
You will ideally have:
• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Chartered or near Chartered status with ICE or IStructE
• Strong experience delivering civil and structural designs autonomously
• Proven project management and client facing experience
• Confidence mentoring junior engineers and managing workloads
• Ability to work proactively and collaboratively within a consultancy environment
• Right to work in the UK
