Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust provides a commissioned mental health service that delivers mental health care to men in custody at HMP Forest Bank. The team offers mental health assessment, treatment, and support for a wide range of conditions within the stepped care model.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Mental Health Nurse to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, providing secondary mental health care within the prison. This role is part of the secondary mental health team, comparable to a community mental health team.
This position is a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will manage individuals with secondary mental health needs while in prison custody, assisting in delivering and developing effective, needs-based, modern mental health services within the prison setting.
The post holder should be an expert in all areas of service delivery, ensuring effective communication at all times.
They will be responsible for managing their caseload effectively, utilizing nursing skills and resources to provide high-quality service to all users. The role requires contributing to maintaining the CPA process throughout legal and custodial procedures.

* Pay enhancements – 30% additional for evenings (8 pm onwards) and Saturdays, 60% for Sundays and bank holidays.
* 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 29 after 5 years and 33 after 10 years.

Person specification
* RMN registration and completion of preceptorship program
* Experience in delivering psychological interventions to individuals and groups
* Knowledge of risk assessment, management, and mental health legislation including CPA
* Experience working in offender health or forensic settings
* Ability to write reports and communicate concisely
* Strong organizational and time management skills
