Senior Quantity Surveyor – £60m Major Education Scheme (Freelance)
£60m major education scheme in Twickenham and Hertfordshire. An experienced, commercially oriented Senior Quantity Surveyor is required to support a large-scale school redevelopment that is moving into its main construction phase.
Role
* Senior QS supporting delivery of a major education scheme valued around £35m
* Based between site in Twickenham and office in Hertfordshire
* Focus on commercial strategy, opportunity identification and margin improvement
* Support an existing QS who manages day‑to‑day project commercial tasks
* Review procurement strategy, subcontract packages and commercial risk
* Drive value engineering and profit enhancement across the scheme
* Work closely with project leadership to maximise financial performance
Project
* Major redevelopment of the former Royal Military School of Music at Kneller Hall
* Demolition of existing buildings and conversion of listed heritage structures
* Construction of new teaching blocks, sports facilities and ancillary buildings
* Significant external works including landscaping, sports pitches and infrastructure
* Programme running through to 2028
What We’re Looking For
* Senior Quantity Surveyor with strong commercial instincts
* Experience on large complex projects (£20m+)
* Someone able to identify margin opportunities and commercial improvements
* Comfortable operating in a strategic commercial support role rather than purely transactional QS duties
* Strong contractor background with the ability to influence project profitability

* Freelance – 18‑month duration
* £400 per day
