We are currently seeking a qualified Duty Solicitor to join this Criminal team and assist in providing expert legal services to clients in need of representation. The role will be based at their Weston-super-Mare office when not in court or covering police stations, with the opportunity for some flexible home working, due to the nature of criminal law.
Key Responsibilities:
9. Cover Duty Solicitor Rota slots at court and police stations.
10. Conduct advocacy in Magistrates’ Courts, including handling trials.
11. Availability for own client police station interview call-outs.
12. Assist with legal aid applications.
13. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files to ensure efficient case management.
Requirements:
14. Must be a qualified solicitor with a valid practising certificate.
15. Must be qualified under the Duty Solicitor Scheme.
16. Willingness to travel, as duties will cover courts and police stations within North Somerset, Taunton, Yeovil, and Bristol.
17. Availability to work evenings and weekends as required by the Duty Solicitor Rota.
18. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to ensure excellent client care.
19. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
