JOB TITLE: Cryptographic Software Engineer - Assembler
LOCATION(S): Edinburgh or London
HOURS: Full time (This role will include a requirement to work as part of a 24x7 on-call rota)
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time at our location listed above.
About this opportunity
The Chief Security Office (CSO) plays a vital role in delivering Lloyds Banking Group's vision of putting customers at the heart of everything we do, helping Britain prosper, and protecting the Group and its customers and suppliers from security threats.
In this role, you will be involved in the planning and migration of legacy code written in assembler and assisting with rewriting this in C. You’ll help maintain and help migrate services according to Group security standards and policies (and to agreed service levels) and will assist with the delivery of investment funded work within mainframe environments – this includes out of hours. Additionally, you’ll provide technical support (including incident and problem resolution for systems and processes in complex environments) – again this includes out of hours support.
Key responsibilities
* Provide support for our crypto environment to tight timescales.
* Help drive the crypto strategy and design across the mainframe development and test estate.
* Work closely with our key stakeholders to deliver against the technology roadmap.
* Work collaboratively across the wider Cyber Security teams to develop, promote, and implement process initiatives.
* Ensure processes and procedures are strictly adhered to.

What you’ll need
* Assembler and C programming and support skills on IBM mainframe systems
* Operational experience on z/OS systems
* Experience with transformation and decommissioning of legacy systems
* Bug fixing and troubleshooting in complex environments
Any experience of these would be really useful
* A working knowledge of encryption key management required for debit/credit card production
* Diagnostic skills and an ability to analyse technical information from multiple sources, allowing the provision of highly effective solutions in complex environments
