Sonographer

With new and passionate Ultrasound Leads driving service development, we are seeking a dedicated Band 7 Sonographer with UK experience and HCPC/NMC or RCT registration. The role involves scanning patients, producing independent reports, teaching and training, and participating in department management, audits, and continuous improvement programmes.
Main duties of the job
- Scan patients and produce independent reports in line with departmental guidelines.
- Teach and provide practical training to student sonographers, specialist registrars and other trainees.
- Participate in ultrasound department management, audit and clinical governance programmes.
- Communicate with patients, relatives and others about the purpose of examinations and scan results.
- Develop own skills and knowledge, contributing to the development of others and identifying training needs.
- Plan and prioritise workload to ensure efficient workflow and minimise waiting times.
- Provide a supportive learning environment for trainee sonographers and support participation in centrally registered audit and continuous improvement programmes.
Person specification
- HCPC/NMC/RCT registration.
- BSc in radiography or midwifery.
- Minimum of 3 years post‑qualification experience.
- Experience scanning abdominal, obstetrics and gynaecology; diagnostic MSK, baby hips, head & neck or paediatrics.
- Awareness of all relevant legislation.
- Excellent leadership and motivational skills.
- Experience in clinical audit.
- PG Cert/Dip in obstetrics, gynaecology and/or general medical ultrasound; and/or MSK/head & neck/vascular ultrasound is desirable.

Contract & working pattern
Permanent, full‑time (Monday to Friday) with possibility of weekend work as required.
