We are looking for a Senior to Principal level Naval Architect to join our clients Vehicle Control team, contributing to the design and development of some of the most advanced submarines for the Royal Navy and Royal Australian Navy.
You will:
* Conduct analysis and evaluation of submarine manoeuvring performance from concept design through to in-service support.
* Develop, verify, and validate mathematical manoeuvring models using physical model test data.
* Generate Safe Manoeuvring Envelopes and support associated operator guidance.
* Collaborate with enterprise partners to develop modelling capabilities, processes, and toolsets supporting major programmes.
* Work closely with other naval architecture teams, systems teams, Active Vehicle Control system teams, propulsion engineers, customers, and suppliers to deliver innovative and safe submarine solutions.
* Support and conduct hydrodynamic sea trials, including depth and heading control, test form development, and post-trial data analysis.
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
* Experience in ship or submarine manoeuvring modelling.
* Advanced numeracy and analytical skills.
* Strong understanding of hydrodynamic principles and methods.
* Degree in Naval Architecture, Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent experience.
Desirable:
* Hydrodynamic/aerodynamic design and evaluation experience.
* Physical testing experience.
* Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
