We are looking to appoint:
Welfare Assistant – EYFS (Reception Class)
Grade 3, Job Ref: AAAD5026
Hours: 28 hours per week, 8:45am – 3:20pm (including 1-hour unpaid lunch break), term time only (38 weeks per year).
Contract: Temporary while child requires the support
Salary: Grade 3 - £12.26per hr - £15,050 per annum
We are seeking to appoint a caring, dedicated and enthusiastic Welfare Assistant to work in our Reception (EYFS) class, supporting a child with their medical needs – primarily toileting – alongside their general welfare and wellbeing.
This is a rewarding role that requires patience, resilience, and a genuine commitment to helping children thrive. You will work under the direction of teaching staff, supporting the child's physical, social and emotional development, and ensuring they feel safe, supported and included in all aspects of school life.
Main responsibilities include:
* Attending to the personal, medical and toileting needs of the child in a respectful and dignified manner.
* Supporting the child in class, helping them to participate in learning activities.
* Promoting independence and self-care skills where appropriate.
* Liaising with teaching staff to share relevant information about the child's care.
* Assisting with transitions, playtimes and other school activities as required.
We are looking for someone who:
* Is patient, calm, caring and resilient with a good sense of humour
* Has experience of supporting young children with medical and toileting needs.
* Can work effectively as part of a team and follow guidance from teaching staff.
* Has good communication skills with both children and adults.
* Shows a positive, flexible and proactive attitude to supporting children's needs.
Essential requirements:
* Good basic education (GCSE or equivalent in English & Maths).
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
The role is subject to an enhanced DBS check and safeguarding recruitment checks in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education.
