Assistant Commercial Manager - £50,000 - Bristol

We're looking for an Assistant Commercial Manager to join a dynamic team where you'll play a key role in the commercial success of mechanical and engineering projects from inception through to completion.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with commercial, quantity surveying, or M&E experience who wants greater project exposure, responsibility, and career progression. You'll work closely with experienced commercial and project teams, gaining hands-on involvement in both site operations and commercial management, giving you a well-rounded platform to develop your career.
What You'll Be Doing
As Assistant Commercial Manager, you'll support the commercial delivery of multiple engineering projects, helping to ensure strong financial performance, contractual compliance, and effective cost management throughout the project lifecycle.
Working alongside project managers, engineers, site teams, and senior commercial professionals, you'll be involved in:
* Supporting the commercial and contractual management of live projects.
* Monitoring project costs, budgets, and financial performance.
* Managing subcontractor accounts, valuations, payments, and variations.
* Assisting with applications for payment, final accounts, and commercial reporting.
* Producing forecasts, cash flow projections, and cost reports.
* Identifying commercial risks and opportunities to maximise project performance.
* Providing valuable commercial support on-site and within the office environment.
* Supporting contract administration under JCT and NEC forms of contract.
* Contributing to process improvements and best practice across the commercial function.
What We're Looking For
* Experience within a commercial, assistant quantity surveying, or assistant commercial management role.
* Background in construction, M&E, engineering, or building services projects.
* Understanding of commercial processes and contract administration.
* Familiarity with JCT and/or NEC contracts.
* Strong analytical and numerical skills, including Excel.
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Degree qualified or working towards a qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline (desirable).
