At Svitzer, the safety of our people is always a priority. We are looking for a Marine Standards Superintendent to strengthen HSSEQ performance across our harbour and terminal towage operations. This is a high-impact operational role. You will work directly with vessel crews, port teams and regional leadership to ensure our standards are applied consistently, risks are managed proactively and lessons are acted on decisively. You can be based at one of these port locations: Gravesend, Southampton, Bristol, Milford Haven, Felixstowe, Immingham, Middlesbrough, Tyne or Liverpool, with flexibility to work remotely. Travel between these and other sites across Europe is expected in the role, Package on offer includes: Up to 10% contributory pension Car/Car Allowance X4 Life Insurance Private medical/Dental Plan 10% Bonus 25 Days Holiday Bank holidays What You’ll Be Doing Driving Operational HSSEQ Performance Provide day-to-day HSSEQ guidance across port operations Support local management teams to strengthen safety leadership and proactive risk management Support Management of Change processes from a safety perspective Analyse safety data, identify trends and implement improvement actions Monitor regulatory developments and ensure regional compliance Leading Incident & Risk Management Support the classification and review of incidents Conduct in-depth reviews of severe and high-potential incidents Facilitate learning teams and embed lessons across the workforce Liaise with authorities and manage external reporting where required Strengthening Compliance & Assurance Conduct internal and contractor audits Support external audits (e.g. OVID, MLC, SMC, DOC) Deliver training and guidance on safety management systems Ensure contractual HSSEQ obligations are consistently met Supporting Resilience & Continuous Improvement Plan and facilitate emergency drills and crisis simulations Contribute to business improvement initiatives and operational projects About You You will hold STCW certificate of competence and bring solid experience from the maritime sector, ideally supported by qualifications in Health & Safety or a related discipline. You have: Proven experience investigating incidents and driving preventative action Strong knowledge of safety management systems and maritime compliance frameworks The confidence to influence senior stakeholders and frontline crews alike Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce detailed reports and documentation The ability to work independently, make sound decisions and lead from the front Fluent written and spoken English Right to Work UK Full UK Driving License This role requires regular vessel attendance. You must be physically able to access vessels, climb ladders and operate safely in engine rooms and on deck, across a range of climatic conditions. Global travel is required (up to 70 days per year).
