We are a small but growing service-based business operating through a US single-member LLC with operations run by a Canadian resident founder. We are looking for an experienced bookkeeper to clean up and finalize our 2025 books and potentially continue on a monthly basis.
This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable with cross-border bookkeeping, understands owner draws vs expenses, and can work cleanly with accountants on both the US and Canadian side.
What We Need Help With (Immediate Scope)
-Review and clean up 2025 bookkeeping
-Properly classify owner draws vs business expenses
-Reconcile bank and Wise transactions
-Ensure contractor payments are recorded correctly
-Prepare clean, CPA-ready books (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet)
-Flag any inconsistencies or issues proactively
Ongoing Monthly Scope (If It's a Fit)
-Monthly bank and Wise reconciliations
-Categorization of expenses and contractor payments
-Maintaining clean equity and owner draw accounts
-Monthly P&L and Balance Sheet reporting
-Light coordination with our CPA when needed
Our Setup
-Accounting software: Xero
-Entity: US single-member LLC (disregarded entity)
-Owner: Canadian tax resident
-Contractors: International (non-US)
-No payroll, no inventory, no sales tax
Ideal Experience
-3+ years bookkeeping experience
-Strong experience with Xero
-Experience with service-based or digital businesses
-Familiarity with cross-border setups (US entities with non-US owners is a big plus)
-Comfortable distinguishing owner draws vs expenses
-Detail-oriented and proactive communicator
Nice to Have (Not Required)
-Experience working alongside CPAs
-Knowledge of Wise
-Familiarity with Canadian tax reporting requirements (T2125 context)
