This role will provide you with this opportunity whilst working within a market-leading team. We are home to a group of consultants in renewables, industry, offshore, coasts, rivers, ports and other inland developments. Our group within the wider company is around 200 people and growing and is based in 10 offices in the UK. We work closely with other groups to deliver collaborative multi-disciplinary projects for our clients. Responsibilities
* Delivery of projects for various public and private clients such as the Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authorities (LLFAs), Internal Drainage Boards (IDBs), infrastructure developers and renewable energy companies.
* Work as part of the Flood Risk and Hydraulic Modelling team on urban and rural flood risk, nature-based solutions, hydrology and hydro-geomorphology projects.
* Write Flood Risk Assessments, Flood Warning and Emergency Planning, Surface Water Drainage Design and Strategies, and support wider flood risk management projects.
* Prepare Flood Risk Assessments to support planning applications for residential, industrial, and commercial developments; develop surface water drainage design for Local Authority review.
* Support the development of Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) for Development Consent Order (DCO) applications including renewables, water infrastructure and flood modelling studies.
* Collaborate with other disciplines and communicate with clients and external stakeholders including the Environment Agency, LLFAs and IDBs.
* Mentor graduate and junior staff and contribute to the delivery of high-quality outputs.
* Additional duties as required by management.
Qualifications and experience
* Essential:
o Bachelor's degree in an appropriate analytical subject (e.g. Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Water Resources, Geography).
o Minimum of 5 years relevant experience as a flood risk consultant.
o Ability to assess and review surface water drainage strategies and calculations.
o Experience in hydrology studies and the use of hydrological estimation software (e.g. WINFAP).
o Excellent communication, analytical and report writing skills.
o Ability to manage commercial aspects of projects and carry out technical reviews.
o Awareness of hydrology & hydraulic modelling approaches and relevance to flood risk assessment.
o Organised, able to plan time effectively and meet deadlines; able to work independently or as part of a team.
* Desirable:
o Master's degree in an appropriate subject.
o Chartered, or working towards, chartership with CIWEM, ICE or other relevant body.
o GIS experience in QGIS and/or ArcGIS.
o Experience with planning processes, especially DCO applications/EIA, and dealing with Private Developers.

Location
You will be based in one of our main offices, ideally within commuting distance of the South-East where the majority of our Flood Risk & Hydraulic Modelling team are based. Occasional commuting to different offices and clients will be expected.
