Overview
CAMHS Primary Practitioner roles at Cheswold Park Hospital. 3 x CAMHS Primary Practitioner positions available within the Wakefield CAMHS Primary Intervention Team. This is an opportunity to work in the Single Point of Access (SPA) to assist with triage and early intervention, helping young people and families access the right help at the right time.
You would join a collaborative team at an exciting time as we review the front door into the service. We are seeking an experienced and motivated professional with experience in mental health.
Responsibilities
* Be the first point of contact for children, young people, families and professionals through the SPA. Take triage calls, make informed clinical decisions, and provide supportive advice and signposting.
* Deliver brief, targeted support through the 2+1 approach: one initial assessment and two focused intervention sessions.
* Support children, young people and families to access the right support and make onward referrals internally within Wakefield CAMHS or to external agencies.
* Demonstrate excellent risk assessment and triage skills and make safeguarding referrals when required.
* Contribute to the development and delivery of a coordinated CAMHS system and support universal services in recognizing and managing emotional and behavioural difficulties.
* Promote safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people; work within the single point of referral as required (09:00–18:00).
* Collaborate with supervision, attend Primary Intervention Team meetings, and foster strong working relationships across services.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential: First level registered qualification (e.g., RMN, CPN, SW, Occupational Therapy) or a relevant mental health profession.
* Essential: Comprehension of current legislation relating to under 18s and understanding of agencies involved in working with under 18s.
* Essential: Experience of working with children and adolescents with multiple problems and their families/carers; multi-disciplinary working; safeguarding experience; and experience supervising/mentoring junior staff.
* Desirable: Experience in universal services; networking between universal services and CAMHS; Family and Systemic Team experience; knowledge of equality and diversity; experience delivering training; and postgraduate training in mental health therapies.
* Personal attributes: Able to work autonomously and as part of a team; capable of travelling to various sites; calm, collaborative, flexible and committed to safeguarding and improving service accessibility.
