Our client, a leading manufacturer based in Houghton Le Spring, is seeking an experienced EH&S Supervisor to join their site team. The Site EH&S Professional will provide both leadership and hands-on support for all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs at the manufacturing facility. Working closely with the Plant Manager and the central EHS function, this is a key role in ensuring the site operates safely, sustainably, and in full compliance with UK legislation. You will be instrumental in developing an autonomous safety culture, maintaining ISO management systems, and driving continuous improvement through employee engagement and operational excellence. Hours of work would be Monday to Friday, 8.00am - 4.00pm. Key Responsibilities * Ensure compliance with all UK environmental, health, and safety legislation. * Develop, implement, and maintain ISO systems (ISO 14001 and ISO 45001). * Lead initiatives that build a proactive and autonomous EHS culture. * Promote and manage Health & Wellness programs to support employee wellbeing. * Define and maintain EHS Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). * Deliver EHS training and coaching to managers, supervisors, and employees. * Lead risk identification, assessment, and mitigation programs across site operations. * Conduct inspections, audits, and behavioral safety observations to verify compliance and program effectiveness. * Manage environmental aspects including air, waste, and water compliance, ensuring adherence to UK environmental regulations. * Drive continuous improvement within the site’s EHS Management System and ensure robust reporting and follow-up on corrective actions. * Regulatory compliance * Become a technical expert on the site process technologies Requirements: * Hold a degree in Environmental Management, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. * 5 or more years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with a proven track record of success in reducing occupational injuries, working knowledge and expertise in Environmental regulations and maintaining compliance with pertinent regulations. * Strong EHS background and experience in UK regulations and reporting. * The ability to identify change, communicate the need for change, and monitor integration for success. * Must have demonstrated abilities as an effective leader/trainer/coach. * Demonstrate the ability to communicate both horizontally and vertically * Computer literate and knowledge of web applications * Industrial process understanding and knowledge Due to the high volume of candidates responding to our adverts unfortunately we are not always able to provide individual feedback.
