Senior Manager, Control Process Automation & Data
Location: London; Remote (UK)
Position Overview: This role sits at the heart of Monzo’s Control Discipline change agenda, supporting the delivery of a future, technology‑first, and data‑driven risk management model. The role will be instrumental in embedding agility, automation, and intelligence into how we manage risks and controls across the business.
Responsibilities
* Lead the Control Discipline data and technology strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with Monzo’s expansion plans and Group Risk strategy.
* Design and deliver a scalable operating model in partnership with Risk & Control leads for a global organisation.
* Partner with Data and Engineering to translate risk management needs into technology and data requirements, supporting the transformation agenda.
* Champion real‑time risk management, designing automated monitoring systems and alerting mechanisms.
* Evolve the Risk & Control application strategy with 2nd Line and Technology to provide simplification, automation, and enhanced user value.
* Champion AI in risk management, running PoCs, experiments, building business cases, and leading contract negotiations where necessary.
* Own the transformation programme roadmap, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
* Maintain a central view of all initiatives, set milestones, identify risks and dependencies, track delivery.
* Support ongoing development of processes, systems and controls to ensure scalability and strategic alignment.
* Manage project schedules, set milestones, identify issues, and communicate to stakeholders.
* Instill a technology‑ and data‑led culture within the Control Discipline, partnering with culture carriers to deliver sustainable value.
* Deliver excellent stakeholder management, building strong partnerships across Risk, Data, Product, Engineering, Procurement, 3rd parties, and Control leads.
Qualifications and Experience
* Programme management experience in a financial services environment.
* Experience leading teams, preferably Risk and Control, through change programmes.
* Experience in implementation of Risk and Control systems and processes.
* Ability to operate in a fast‑paced, unstructured environment and think outside the box.
* Comfortable building and writing AI prompts to solve real control problems.
* Tech and data first mindset, continuously seeking ways to improve processes.
* Hands‑on approach, capable of supporting colleagues, projects, or tasks of any size and engaging stakeholders.
