Job Reference: SUN16625MB6 About the Employer I am the employer and daughter to my mother who has been allocated a direct payment to support her with her mornings routines and personal care. The PA we are seeking would be working on a 2-1 basis to support with lifting Additional hours are available and if agreeable by the PA, and can be offered on a week on week basis, including additional hours for any sickness or holiday cover for one of my other PA's in the team. My mother has a diagnosis of Dementia and PPA (Primary progressive aphasia) which affects her language and communication, whereby she is now nonverbal. We are seeking a PA to provide my mother with some personal care, assistance with feeding and preparing her on a morning and assisting me to take her out for lunch and social activates The PA would also be required at to offer companionship as well as support with the daily tasks. My mother enjoys the company of others and has a good sense of humour. She has limited communication but can guide those around her to communicate what she wants or needs. The support will also grant me a break from my caring role when the the support is provided by my PA's and an opportunity for my mother to build and extend her support network with someone other than a family member. We are seeking someone to assist and support in my mother with the following tasks: Assist with feeding, Assist with toileting and dressing, Providing companionship, General household duties (tidying from meal times etc.) My mothers’ needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required. Employer Disability and Health Conditions: • Mobility / Physical • Cognitive / Learning • Invisible About the Role Duties and Responsibilities: • Support and/or prompt with personal care. This may include toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed. • Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks. • Assist with household chores and general homemaking. • Promote and encourage friendships and independence. • Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship. The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required. You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times. Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered). Required Skills: • Be honest, reliable, trustworthy and punctual. • Maintain confidentiality and respect privacy, including the prohibited use of social media in relation to the job role. • To be able to work on own initiative. • To be able to follow instructions accurately. • Be patient, supportive and caring. • Have good listening skills and be able to provide non-judgemental emotional support. • Be empathetic. • Previous caring experience is not essential, however you should have a genuine interest in supporting people with a disability/illness to achieve their goals. • Be able to work flexibly, adapting to the employers needs on a daily basis. • Be self-motivated with a willingness to get involved. • Have a lively personality. When you are Required: 4 per week every Sunday 11:30am-3:30pm and 8 bank holidays per year (AVG 4.61 hrs per week) Additional weekly hours available in December 3 weeks & offer of cover for staff sickness and holidays if agreeable as and when.
