We are recruiting for a Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) who shares our vision to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
The CNS will be motivated, proactive and an excellent communicator who works well within a team, while also autonomously managing their own caseload.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for the day‑to‑day delivery of lung cancer care services within the trust as agreed with the Lead Nurse, in accordance with the Trust and national guidance.
* Work with patients being investigated and having a confirmed diagnosis of lung cancer or mesothelioma, ensuring that national targets are met in the delivery of care.
* Collaborate with all appropriate members of the multi‑disciplinary team to ensure seamless service between acute and primary care services.
* Communicate sensitive, condition‑related information to patients and relatives with high levels of empathy and reassurance, including highly complex information to non‑clinical people (e.g. family).
* Ensure provision of appropriate verbal and written patient information, empowering patients to make informed decisions.
* Maintain own knowledge, competence and skills through regular clinical supervision, appraisal, personal development plans and appropriate training programmes.
* Work in partnership with other professional, health and social care organisations, trade union and voluntary sector organisations to embed these principles.
