Job Summary
Join Leonardo as a Graduate Systems Engineer in Edinburgh to work on radar and advanced targeting projects. This 18‑month Graduate Engineering Programme offers a starting salary of £34,000 per annum, a £1,000 welcome bonus, and eligibility for an exit bonus. You will spend at least three days each week on site to learn and contribute.
Key Responsibilities
* Requirements capture, design documentation, verification and validation.
* Algorithm design and testing.
* Performance modelling using physics‑based models.
* Data analysis – end‑to‑end systems analysis with synthetic and real‑world data.
* Applied research, from product improvements to blue‑sky concepts.
Project Involvement
Work on real engineering problems within the Radar or Advanced Targeting business area, supporting tasks across multiple products such as:
* The radar for the Typhoon fighter jet.
* The radar for the Saab Gripen fighter.
* The family of Surveillance AESA radars.
* An IR‑CM (Infra‑Red Counter‑Measures) system.
* Laser target designator or laser‑ranging systems.
Qualifications
* Minimum 2–2 Bachelors or Integrated Master’s degree in a STEM subject, or a higher degree (MSc/PhD).
* Experience in coding/programming.
* Relevant project work or industry placements.
* Team‑working skills and problem‑solving ability.
* Application of science/technology knowledge to real‑world problems.
Security Clearance
This role requires pre‑employment screening under the UK Government’s BPSS. National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, including SC or DV checks.
