Shift Pattern: Monday - Thursday 07:00-15:30 | Friday 07:00-12:00

Our client, a global leader in industrial maintenance, is seeking a Mechanically Biased Maintenance Technician to support their Yeovil site within a fast-paced, highly regulated aerospace manufacturing setting.

The Role:
Carry out mechanical breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance on industrial machinery
Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical systems, with some electrical and control system involvement
Dismantle, repair, replace, and test machine components to ensure optimal performance
Perform fabrication and machining tasks, supporting maintenance and improvement work
Carry out welding (MIG & TIG), fabrication, and manual machining using mills, lathes, and pillar drills, along with sheet metal work to support equipment repair and improvement.
Maintain accurate records using CMMS systems
Identify and source parts, tools, and consumables
Support continuous improvement (CI) projects to enhance performance and reduce downtime
Mentor junior technicians and support team development
Ensure full compliance with health & safety and 5S standards
About You:
With previously experience of working within heavy industry, you'll be a mechanically biased engineer with:
Minimum 3 years' experience in a mechanical maintenance role
Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
Good working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
Proven ability to carry out welding (MIG & TIG)
Experience in fabrication and component repair
Skilled in manual machining using mills, lathes, and pillar drills
Ability to work independently and within a team
Experience using tools, workshop machinery, and maintenance equipment
This role would suit someone who has previously worked as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Technician, or Shift Engineer.
