About the role You will be hired for 12 months to take up this wonderful Writer’s role, while our current Writer steps up to provide maternity cover for the Creative Content Manager. The role sits within the Communications Team, which in turn sits within the wider Department of Communications and Fundraising.Your role will never be dull as you take on responsibility for crafting the compelling stories we tell our supporters and the wider world about the work that they make possible. Whether through print or digital media, resources for churches or our weekly newsletter (and alongside a Designer and Content Creator Apprentice and under the guidance of the Creative Content Manager) you’ll be a vital component in the story-gathering and story-telling aspects of our major appeals and communications pieces.In the last 18 months, these have included a relief appeal in response to the Türkiye-Syria earthquake, a climate justice Harvest appeal from Uganda and an upcoming refugee-focused Christmas appeal. As part of the team’s creative hub, you will have a major part to play in communicating the heart and soul of BMS World Mission’s strategic and missional direction. About you You will love stories. More importantly, you will have a care and concern for the people who own the stories we have the privilege to tell. You will have an appreciation for the dynamics of content creation in a fundraising context and thrive on building relationships both within and outside the organisation.Ideally, you will have experience setting up, conducting and writing up interviews with individuals from international and intercultural backgrounds and will have played a part in the creation of campaigns or appeals within a charity setting.Creating flexibility for the right candidate is important to us. We expect this to be 12 months but could change should the Creative Content Manager, with the appropriate notice, return early.
