We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support an established engineering and manufacturing operation in North Yorkshire. This is an outside IR35 contract role offering a 6-month initial term, with a strong likelihood of extension to 12 months. This position requires a hands-on engineer comfortable working both in design and on the shop floor, supporting existing and legacy products as well as ongoing updates and improvements. Key Responsibilities Production and modification of 2D electrical drawings using DraftSight (frequent use) Support and minor schematic/layout work using Altium (low usage) Creation and maintenance of parts lists and test specifications (regular requirement) Processing and implementing ECNs (Engineering Change Notices) on existing and legacy designs Managing PCB obsolescence and supporting PCB updates Surface power and power distribution design, including associated calculations Shop floor engineering support and fault finding Some hands-on involvement with builds and validation activities Use of the PDM Vault system to issue, control and maintain documentation Required Experience Strong background in electrical/electronic design within a manufacturing environment Proficient in 2D DraftSight (essential) Working knowledge of Altium Designer Experience managing ECNs and updating legacy electrical designs Understanding of power distribution, surface power systems and related calculations Experience handling PCB obsolescence and design updates Comfortable supporting production teams and working closely with the shop floor Experience using a PDM/document control system
