We are looking for a reliable, trauma-informed tutor who can provide 6 hours per week of 1:1 support in Maths, English and Science. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a genuine difference to a Year 10 looked-after young person in DT11, helping them re-engage with their learning, rebuild confidence, and make progress at a pace that feels safe and achievable for them.
This young person (M) is currently looked after and has recently moved foster placements. M struggles significantly in a classroom setting and cannot currently access learning in a large group environment. As a result:
- School attendance is below 70%
- Lesson attendance is even lower due to difficulties coping in school
Despite this, M has strong potential with the right support and previously made good use of 1:1 tutoring and now needs this reinstated
As M is now in Year 10, it is important to support them in preparing for GCSE pathways, strengthening foundational Maths and English skills, and building confidence for exam preparation.
Role Details
- 6 hours per week
- Preferred days: Tuesday and Thursday (but this can be adjusted if needed)
- Sessions will take place within The Blandford School
- All provision will be 1:1 due to difficulties managing mainstream classrooms
- Must be comfortable working in a sensitive, trauma-informed manner
Tutor Requirements
To be considered, you must have:
- A minimum of 6 months' experience in a UK-based education setting
- Experience working with young people with SEND, attachment needs and trauma backgrounds
- Confidence delivering Maths, English, and Science up to Year 10 level
- A patient, calm, relational approach
- The ability to build trust gradually with a young person who has experienced high levels of uncertainty and inconsistency
If you feel this is a role you'd be well suited for, please reply to this email and I'll be happy to share the full details and arrange next steps.Thankyou
