As a Retail Analyst, you will work as an integral part of the Retail and Pricing team and support the definition and delivery of the retail strategy through analysis of data and insight. As customer purchase and fulfilment behaviours evolve, and retail trends move towards digital ticketing, it is vital that ScotRail adapts to ensure we extract the maximum return from our supply chain, deliver customer propositions that will grow demand, and support growth initiatives from across the business. The role of Retail Analyst will use data and insight to understand customer trends, retail and fulfilment channel trends, and performance, to inform the retail strategy and optimise the cost of sale. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the team to develop and deliver ScotRail’s Retail strategy.

Essential
* Qualifications in a numerate discipline or relevant experience where the skills, knowledge, and experience are directly transferable to the requirements of this role.
* Experience analysing complex data sets within a commercial environment.
* Commercial acumen and an understanding of retail markets (Point of Sale Technology)
* Experience with building and maintaining Excel reporting models.
* Experience of turning complex data into meaningful insight and concise recommendations that influences business decisions.
* Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to work well across teams.
* Consistently produces work of a high standard with precise attention to detail
* Comfortable working to deadlines and managing workload effectively.
* Understanding of the transport marketplace
Desirable
* Experience with data analysis tools or programming languages for example SQL, Python, R
