This is an exciting opportunity to gain operational experience within the care group of Complex & Academic Medicine (CAM) supporting Respiratory & Infectious Diseases departments. The post will provide support to the head of operations and general service managers in the running of the business. The care group has 5 wards with 113 beds, a dedicated Haematology day case and additional inpatient beds plus community venues within sexual health and haematology.
The post will support the delivery of clinically led specialist services, ensuring the best possible outcome for patients. You will work closely with medical consultants and senior nurses to maintain standards and promote new services. The care group has a large academic portfolio with exposure to exciting and innovative projects with over 100 ongoing studies, with close links to the University of Liverpool and the School of Tropical Medicine.
This role requires a dynamic and motivated individual who can adapt to rapidly changing demands ranging from bed management, business reports and problem solving.
Responsibilities
* Manage an administration team and monitor both national and local Key Performance Indicators.
* Review operational processes and plans, ensuring systems and processes are in place and adhered to.
* Assist the team to initiate programmes of work and operational change for their delegated speciality with oversight of budgets.
* Provide day-to-day operational and line management within CAM.
* Lead/monitor work streams to achieve CIP targets for the speciality/s.
* Assist in delivering a balanced budget within the care group.
* Line management for Operational Support & Office Managers.
* Provide a visible and accessible presence to all teams; deputise for the General Service Manager as required.
* Prepare reports and support divisional papers for the care group.
* Provide HR support within the care group.
* Work with internal and external stakeholders to improve quality of patient care and services.

Job Description
Job responsibilities
Reporting to the General Service Manager, the post holder will be an integral member of the specialty management team. They will be responsible for delivering operational and administrative services within a service/function/sub-speciality, contributing to the Care Group Operational Plan. The Assistant Service Manager will monitor operational performance and advise the General Service Manager, Head of Operations, Clinical Leads and Lead Nurse/AHP as necessary. They will work closely with other specialties within the Division and understand cross-cutting work affecting other divisions.
Accountabilities
* Assist with the delivery of operational and administrative services within the speciality, including managing an administration team and monitoring KPIs.
* Oversee administration teams and address operational issues with appropriate skills and qualities.
* Monitor operational processes and ensure systems are in place and followed.

Qualifications
* Essential: Educated to degree level or equivalent
* Essential: Postgraduate management qualification or equivalent level of experience
Knowledge
