Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Developmental Occupational Therapist to join our Community Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Pathway, working with individuals with complex needs who are involved in the Criminal Justice System. This post is open to newly qualified Occupational Therapists at Band 5 and experienced Occupational Therapists at Band 6.

This developmental role is designed to support Band 5 Occupational Therapists to progress towards Band 6 competency through structured supervision, specialist training, and supported professional development within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.

We are looking for a motivated, compassionate and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist who is passionate about working with people with complex emotional and interpersonal difficulties, particularly those involved in offending behaviour and the Criminal Justice System. This specialist role offers the opportunity to use occupational therapy approaches to assess occupational needs and support engagement, emotional regulation, meaningful activity, social inclusion and positive life change within a trauma‑informed and psychologically informed service.

Main duties of the job

Our service covers a large geographical area including Plymouth, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly and we welcome applications from candidates based in either Cornwall or Plymouth. The successful candidates base can be agreed depending on locality and service need. The ability to travel independently across the region is essential, as some locations are not accessible via public transport. Pool cars are available through the Trust to support travel requirements.

The OPD Pathway is jointly commissioned by NHS England and the Ministry of Justice and delivered in partnership with the Probation Service. Our multidisciplinary team includes both NHS and Probation staff working collaboratively to improve outcomes for individuals with complex needs. In Cornwall and Plymouth, the OPD Pathway includes three integrated strands:

* CORE community provision
* Voyage Intensive Intervention and Risk Management Service (IIRMS)
* Lawson House Psychologically Informed Planned Environment (PIPE) Approved Premises (Probation hostel).

This role primarily sits within the CORE and Voyage IIRMS community services, while also supporting work within PIPE and standard Approved Premises where required.
