Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounts Assistant to support our clients finance team in managing day-to-day accounting tasks. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a career in finance and accounting, with opportunities to grow and gain hands-on experience in various aspects of bookkeeping and financial administration.
Responsibilities
* Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
* Process invoices, purchase orders, and expense claims
* Reconcile bank statements and company credit cards
* Support month-end and year-end close processes
* Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
* Assist with VAT returns and other statutory filings
* Respond to internal and external queries in a timely manner
* Support the Finance Manager with ad hoc tasks and reporting
* Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting regulations
Requirements
* Proven experience in an accounts or finance-related role (preferred but not essential)
* Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
* Good understanding of basic accounting principles
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks)
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* AAT qualification (or working towards it) is desirable but not essential
