Jackson Hogg are delighted to be supporting our long-standing client with the appointment of a Hydraulics Engineer/Technician on a permanent basis (day shift, Monday - Friday, potential to go offshore). This role will support the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic systems on marine vessels, equipment & dredging machinery. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of hydrualic systems used in marine operations, offshore structures and heavy-duty dredging equipment. Job Description * Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, and actuators. * Conduct routine preventive maintenance on hydraulic systems for vessels, cranes, winches, and dredging equipment. * Disassemble, inspect, and rebuild hydraulic components to OEM standards. * Identify and replace worn or damaged hoses, seals, and fittings. * Install new hydraulic systems on marine vessels, port equipment, and offshore platforms. * Work with engineers to ensure proper alignment, calibration, and pressure testing of hydraulic components. * Assist in system commissioning and sea trials to verify performance. * Ensure proper selection, filtration, and maintenance of hydraulic fluids. * Monitor system contamination levels and implement fluid cleanliness programs. * Adhere to marine industry safety regulations and best practices for hydraulic systems. * Conduct risk assessments and comply with environmental and safety protocols. Skills Required * Diploma, NVQ, or Degree in Hydraulic Engineering, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. * Certification in Hydraulics (e.g., IFPS, Parker, Bosch Rexroth, or equivalent training) is desirable. * 3 years of experience in hydrualic maintenance within the marine, offshore or heavy equipment industry * Proficiency in reading hydraulic schematics and troubleshooting fluid power systems. * Experience with hydraulic tools, pumps, accumulators, and filtration systems. * Ability to use diagnostic instruments such as pressure gauges, flow meters, and thermal sensors. * Familiarity with electro-hydraulic control systems and proportional valves is a plus
