Together, we're creating a legacy that goes beyond business—one that's changing the world for the better.

The Commissioning Engineer plays a key hands-on role in the testing, verification, and commissioning of Armstrong's packaged plant rooms (PPRs) and modular systems for HVAC and Data Centre applications. Working under the guidance of the Commissioning Manager, the Engineer ensures systems are tested, commissioned, and documented to Armstrong and client standards through all phases of Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).

This is a customer-facing role requiring strong electrical competence, sound mechanical understanding, and excellent problem-solving skills to ensure smooth integration and successful project delivery.

Key Accountabilities

Factory Commissioning (FAT)

* Perform electrical and mechanical pre-commissioning and commissioning of packaged systems, including control panels, PLCs, inverters, instrumentation, filtration, and pump systems.
* Support the development and execution of FAT procedures and test documentation.
* Prepare systems for client witness testing, ensuring professional presentation and adherence to test protocols.
* Capture and close out snag lists and non-conformance reports.
* Collaborate with internal engineering, controls, and project management teams to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.

Site Commissioning (SAT)

* Carry out site-based commissioning, functional testing, and validation of system performance.
* Interface with clients, contractors, and Armstrong service partners during installation and site testing phases.
* Ensure all commissioning activities comply with site RAMS and Armstrong HSE procedures.
* Record and report site test results, defects, and remedial actions in line with project documentation standards.
* Support troubleshooting, diagnostics, and technical problem resolution during commissioning and handover.

Documentation & Compliance

* Maintain accurate and up-to-date commissioning records and test documentation.
* Ensure all work adheres to relevant legislation, company standards, and client specifications.
* Assist with the preparation of O&M documentation and test certificates.

* HNC/HND or degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline knowledge.
* Substantial previous work experience in a similar commissioning or field support role.
* Extensive knowledge of HVAC/data centre solutions and systems.

* Solid understanding of electrical control systems, PLCs, inverters, and instrumentation.
* Good understanding of mechanical systems including pumps, valves, filters, and pipework.
* Experience in FAT/SAT procedures, witness testing, and client interaction.

* Substantial experience using MS Project, JIRA, or other collaborative workflow tools.
* In-depth knowledge of Autodesk BIM 360.
* Expertise in automation of commissioning systems.
* Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems within HVAC or data centre environments.

Soft Skills

* Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.

* Strong, team-oriented leadership skills with a proactive, action-focused approach.
* Strong attention to detail and highly organized.
* Ability to communicate in an open, authentic, and professional manner.
* Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively, and maintain stakeholder confidence under pressure.
