Balfour Beatty is looking for a dedicated Heavy Plant Fitter to support our Rail Team in Effingham, maintaining and enhancing our fleet of Multi Purpose Vehicles. What you’ll be doing
* Maintaining and repairing MPVs and modules in line with company policies
* Ensuring compliance with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) standards
* Communicating regularly with your line manager and supporting your team
* Fault‑finding and repairing mechanical and electrical systems
* Completing both verbal and written reports on maintenance, faults, and incidents
* Helping to drive improvements in quality, productivity, and reliability
Qualifications
Essential
* NVQ Level 3 (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
* Good resource management and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work to tight maintenance schedules and deadlines
* Willingness to undertake road vehicle driving as required
* Knowledge of health & safety legislation, risk management, and COSHH awareness
* Must meet and maintain the appropriate medical standard for the position
Desirable
* PTS (Personal Track Safety)
* Dual Trade skills competency (Mechanical/Electrical)
* Experience in the rail industry
