We have a fantastic opportunity for a caring Afternoon Matron to join one of our sixth form boarding houses, to assist with the effective running of the house, supervision and pastoral care of our pupils.
Required from September 2025
29 hours per week, Monday-Friday 1pm-6pm and 1 evening shift per week 7pm-11pm. Term time position (34 weeks per year), plus additional 2 weeks for INSET days and other duties.
Actual salary for hours: £16,611 per annum.
Downe House is a leading independent boarding and day school for girls aged 11-18, based in Cold Ash, Berkshire. Our aim is to provide pupils with a wealth of academic, pastoral and co-curricular opportunities to allow them to grow into confident young women prepared to take on the world.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a caring Afternoon Matron to join one of our sixth form boarding houses, to assist with the effective running of the house, supervision and pastoral care of our pupils. In this role you will work closely with the Housemistress, Assistant Heads and Tutors in ensuring the general welfare and personal development of pupils in the house. You will work as part of the house team to ensure the house is kept safe, well-presented and equipped. Duties will also include general admin relating to the house and medical responsibilities such as the storage, recording and administering of medication.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have previous experience of working with young people and the ability to build strong relationships with the pupils in your care. We are looking for someone who has a caring approach, good IT skills, is well organised and has plenty of energy and enthusiasm!
