Are you an aspiring Criminal Justice Officer, Youth Worker, or Social Care professional looking to build hands-on experience in a trauma-informed educational setting?

This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to support young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Mild Learning Difficulties in a specialist provision in Amersham. As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will make a tangible difference in the lives of students who need structured, compassionate support.

About the School Environment:

The school is a supportive and nurturing environment dedicated to helping students who have found mainstream education challenging. With a focus on therapeutic practices and personalised learning, the setting provides a safe space where students can rebuild their confidence, develop essential life skills, and re-engage with education. The team is passionate about fostering resilience and empowering every student to achieve their potential.

As a Learning Support Assistant, You Will:

1. Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEMH and Mild Learning Difficulties, tailoring approaches to individual needs.
2. Use neurodiversity-informed strategies to reduce anxiety, build predictable routines, and support emotional regulation.
3. Promote emotional resilience, self-awareness, and positive peer relationships.
4. Serve as a consistent, trusted adult in a trauma-informed, restorative environment.
5. Help students develop key life skills and academic competencies in a supportive setting.

This Role Is Ideal for Those Pursuing Careers In:

9. Prison, Court, or Community Rehabilitation Services

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

10. Delivering structured support to students with SEMH and Mild Learning Difficulties.
11. Implementing behaviour and sensory regulation strategies tailored to individual needs.
12. Supporting personalised learning plans focused on emotional and academic growth.
13. Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and families to monitor progress.
14. Participating in de-escalation and relational behaviour support (full training provided).
15. Preparing children for their independence and varying levels of independence outside of school

Who We’re Looking For:

16. Graduates in Criminology, Psychology, Education, Social Sciences, or Humanities.
17. Future professionals passionate about safeguarding, social justice, and rehabilitation.
18. Empathetic communicators with a genuine interest in neurodiversity and inclusion.
19. Individuals eager to learn and adapt in a dynamic, supportive environment.
20. Previous experience in education, care, or youth services is welcome but not essential.

What You’ll Need:

21. A positive, flexible attitude and the ability to build rapport quickly.
22. A willingness to engage with restorative, trauma-informed approaches.
23. An Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
