As vessels move from concept to construction, you will ensure designs are practical, buildable, compliant, and delivered to the highest standards of quality and efficiency. If you thrive in a fast-paced shipyard environment and enjoy solving real-world engineering challenges, this role offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact on vessel delivery.

Key Responsibilities

* Act as the primary interface between Engineering and Production departments
* Interpret and clarify technical drawings, specifications, and design intent for shop floor teams
* Identify and resolve design-to-build issues to maintain schedule and quality targets
* Provide engineering input into build sequences, material usage, and structural integration
* Manage and communicate design changes effectively across departments
* Conduct regular site walkdowns to monitor progress and provide hands-on engineering support
* Collaborate with Naval Architects, Structural Engineers, and Outfit Designers to optimise constructability
* Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
* Ensure compliance with classification society rules and shipyard standards
Essential Skills:
* Degree or HND in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
* Minimum 5 years' experience in shipbuilding or heavy marine fabrication
* Strong understanding of shipyard processes, structural fabrication, outfitting, and modular construction
* Proven ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and 3D models
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
* Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, ShipConstructor, SolidWorks, and production planning tools

Desirable Skills:

* Experience working with classification societies and regulatory bodies
* Knowledge of welding standards, material specifications, and structural tolerances
* Experience leading cross-functional technical discussions
* Familiarity with digital shipbuilding workflows and PLM systems
Why Join?
* Work on complex, high-value marine projects
* Be at the centre of engineering and production collaboration
* Influence vessel build efficiency and quality
* Join a team committed to continuous improvement and technical excellence

The salary is £35,000 to £45,000 plus benefits and you must be eligible for security clearance (BPSS) to be considered.
