Length of employment: Job Summary: Join Ofgem at thecentre of the UK's energy transformationas aDelivery Unit Senior Advisor.This is a rare opportunity to lead high-impact work that directly supports Ofgem's mission to protect consumers and deliver the transition to Net Zero. The Delivery Unit sits at the heart of Ofgem within the GEMA (Board) and Executive Directorate. Established in 2024, it has quickly become a trusted in-house consultancy, leading urgent, high-profile projects that require rapid, strategic responses.As a Senior Advisor, you will own and drive critical commissions that sit at the core of Ofgem's priorities, working across policy, regulatory and corporate functions. You will lead the delivery of strategic analysis and policy advice on emerging issues, producing high-quality briefings, recommendations and options for senior leaders. You will work across directorates to build consensus, shape solutions and ensure that strategy is translated into delivery.Your work will often involve scoping new areas of focus, engaging with stakeholders and ensuring a smooth transition once Delivery Unit work concludes. You will play a key role in shaping Ofgem's response to complex and fast-moving challenges, helping to ensure that decisions are grounded in evidence and aligned with strategic goals. This may include working on cross-cutting issues such as energy affordability, market reform, or the regulation of emerging technologies. We are looking for someone with strong strategic thinking, excellent communication skills and the ability to work at pace across multiple projects.Experience in policy or regulatory environments is highly desirable, as is a good understanding of the energy sector.You will bring a proven ability to synthesise complex information, identify key issues and deliver clear, actionable recommendations. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the Delivery Unit's ways of working, helping to refine how we scope, deliver and hand over projects. This includes supporting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the team. You will also support and mentor junior colleagues, helping to build a collaborative, high-performing team culture. Job Description: Key Responsibilities Lead the strategic analysis and delivery for high priority projects. This will include producing briefing materials and scoping documents for senior officials, which will include policy options and recommendations. Lead engagement with relevant colleagues across Ofgem and key external stakeholders to develop a shared understanding of the problem, options and solutions related to a particular project. Provide support, guidance, and mentorship to more junior members of the team. This may include line management either as work manager or in a matrix capacity. Lead a smooth transition at the end of Delivery Unit work, this may include preparing handover materials and conducting a lessons learned exercise. Key Outputs and Deliverables Lead, oversee and produce high-quality, well-structured analysis and research Produce concise briefing notes, presentations, papers, emails for discussion with key senior stakeholders on key policy and corporate strategy issues which include clear recommendations. Key Stakeholder Relationships Internal CEO and Board members Strategy, Economics, Research and Net Zero (SERN) and Comms Directorates DGs and directors in particular across policy/regulatory areas ePMO Corporate Services External Energy sector, including key companies, consumer groups such as Citizen's Advice, sectoral organisations such as Energy UK, Energy Systems Catapult, and relevant NGOs, thinktanks and academics. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: Proven ability to see the 'big-picture', synthesise information, identify key issues and generate recommendations A track record of translating strategy into delivery, ability to understand the work of the team and the Directorate in a wider, strategic context Ability to work at pace across multiple projects, and act with initiative as a self-starter. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of colleagues and stakeholders and across hierarchies.
