At National Grid, we are looking for a passionate and skilled Project Development Engineer to join our dynamic team in the Asset Operations business. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a multi-disciplined development team who are responsible for all the steps before a project goes into delivery and play a crucial role in shaping the future of our Cyber Security investments. We are flexible on your base location, offering hybrid working a mix of home, office, and site.
Responsibilities
* Lead the scheme team during pre‑construction phases, ensuring timely stakeholder engagement and agreement on investment selections.
* Align project activities with National Grid’s Security Risk Framework and corporate Cyber Security Strategy.
* Develop optimal, efficient, and safe solutions while adhering to CDM Regulations and SHESQ considerations.
* Conduct site assessments, cost estimations, and support the tendering process to ensure successful project delivery.
* Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to monitor and control the portfolio of Cyber investments, providing accurate financial forecasting.
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline, or relevant experience.
* Proven pre‑construction experience including time, cost, set up, optioneering and risk management.
* Proficiency in CDM, Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
* Strong stakeholder management skills and a stakeholder‑centric approach.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
* Knowledge of Electricity Transmission.
* Cyber Security knowledge – NIST / CAF.
* NEC4 project management accreditation, APMPMQ, Prince2.
Salary & Benefits
Starting salary £54,090 to £62,000 per annum plus £4,500 per annum market supplement. Regular working hours are 37 hours Monday to Friday, typically 8 am to 4 pm. Annual leave consists of 26 days plus 8 statutory days, and a contribution pension scheme offers up to 18% of the maximum total contribution.
