Programme Manager (Mechanical & Electrical Services) We have an exciting opportunity for a full time Programme Manager to join our Maintenance and Electrical Services Team ! About the team: You will be part of the busy Mechanical & Electrical (ME) Department within Housing Operations, undertaking a range of duties supporting the delivery of Gas and Electrical works across the city. About the role: As the M&E Department covers several different aspects of work, a varied and flexible approach is required to meet changing needs and tight deadlines for delivery through a very active team. A firm understanding of construction / maintenance related activities is desirable with a familiarity of Gas, Electric and Compliance Works. Ongoing support will be provided in technical areas as required, working closely with our Technical Managers, supporting you in the task. Tasks include Housing work along with our Corporate Estate including Schools & Education, Museums, Civic Buildings and Car Parks in the main: Managing a team of Programme Support Officers as direct reports (a team of 6) who provide excellent support to trade staff, managers and contractors via mobile technology, telephones, and email. Design internal programmes of work to maximise the delivery and efficiency of trade staff ensuring work is completed within our set targets. Working with a broad range of managers to help plan, programme and deliver critical compliance & safety elements including working with various clients. Ensuring that materials are ordered, managed and accounted for. Ensuring finance rules are followed around the raising orders and paying of invoices. Working in partnership with Finance to deliver robust finance reporting and conclude the year end accounts. Managing direct reports, complaints, and difficult situations. Leading a team working within a dynamic department, managing with issues and problems quickly and efficiently. Liaising with residents, peers and colleagues on a daily basis so communication and customer focus will be essential to the role. About you: Qualifications & Experience : NVQ Level 3 in Management (or equivalent) and at least 2 years’ experience in a call centre or resource planning within a maintenance environment. Industry Knowledge : Practical understanding of construction/property maintenance, including general repairs, void property management, asbestos, scaffolding, and damp reduction. Leadership Skills : Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team, manage performance, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment. Customer Focus : Experience delivering high-quality, customer-focused services, ideally within social housing or public sector. IT Skills : Strong IT literacy, including MS Office and relevant systems (e.g., Total Mobile, Optimise, Business World). Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to engage with stakeholders at all levels and explain technical information clearly. Decision-Making & Problem-Solving : Confident in managing workloads, making decisions under pressure, and finding creative solutions. Compliance & Safety : Up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion. What we can offer you: Salary: The salary band for this role is £37,280 -£40,778 per annum. The starting salary is £37,280 per annum with annual progression through the salary bands.
