Overview
At Boeing Defence UK (BDUK), a Technical Publications Verification Engineer is sought to support rotary wing platforms. The role focuses on ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and compliance of technical publications related to the Air System Document Set (ADS) and associated aerospace products. The position involves collaboration with the UK MoD engineering authority, BDUK engineering teams including technical authors, and quality assurance personnel to verify that documentation meets industry standards, regulatory requirements and customer expectations. This role operates within an integrated team environment with a Safety and First Time Quality mindset.
Responsibilities
* Review Technical Documentation: Undertake independent pre-release reviews to verify ADS updates, including technical publication manuals, annotations, and maintenance instructions, for accuracy and completeness. Review and deliver publication change logs to the UK MoD Authority.
* Ensure Compliance: Ensure that all documentation adheres to company standards and regulatory requirements.
* Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams to understand product specifications and operational requirements; collaborate with technical writers to provide guidance on technical content and ensure clarity in documentation.
* Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough quality checks on technical publications to identify errors, inconsistencies, and areas for improvement; implement and maintain verification processes to enhance documentation quality.
* Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on industry regulations and standards related to technical publications; ensure documentation complies with MAA, EASA, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
* Feedback and Improvement: Highlight errors and inconsistencies in ADS reviews and raise appropriate action; provide constructive feedback to writers and engineers to improve publication quality; participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance documentation processes.
* Training and Support: Assist in training technical authors and other team members on best practices; support development of tools and templates to improve ADS review processes.
Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience
* Eligibility for UK SC Security Clearance: Applicants must be able to obtain the necessary clearance.
* Subject Matter Expertise in Technical Publications: Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in compiling and amending aircraft technical publications, including Topic 5 series ADS.
* Leadership and Mentorship: Ability to act as a Technical Publications SME, including teaching, mentoring, and developing junior engineers.
* Maintenance and Engineering Expertise: Strong aerospace maintenance and engineering background with practical application.
Desirable Skills, Qualification and Experience
* Defence Industry Familiarity (Preferred): Experience in a defence-related environment is advantageous but not essential.
* Commitment to Quality: Proven track record of driving first-time quality in engineering outputs.
* Technical Proficiency: Advanced MS Office Suite skills, especially Word and Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.
* Educational Qualifications: Degree-level in a relevant engineering discipline and/or formal training in support engineering principles.
* Experience liaising with internationally located teams and Design Organization interfaces.
* Rotary wing publications authoring experience (preferred but not essential).
