The role

<div><p>We are seeking a skilled organist and choir trainer who will have:</p><ul><li>a recognised qualification in music,</li><li>experience of directing and training a church choir,</li><li>knowledge and understanding of the Catholic tradition of the Church of England, its liturgy and musical traditions, and</li><li>develop our provision for including children in the full liturgical and musical traditions of the church.</li></ul><p>Swindon is within reach of London, Reading, Oxford, Bath and Bristol.</p><p>St Marks has a distinguished and rich tradition of music and liturgy. The choir sings at Sunday Mass and Solemnities throughout the year, including a choral mass setting, motet, and minor propers to chant weekly. The choir also sing Evensong and Benediction monthly.</p><p>St Marks is blessed with a supportive clergy and appreciative congregation.</p><p>The salary is £9,000 p.a. for approx. 10 hours per week, inclusive of Sunday services (with prior rehearsal), feast days, and a Friday evening choir practice twice a month. Weddings and funerals offer additional fees. The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and appropriate safeguarding training.</p></div>
