We're looking for a video producer to shoot, direct and edit original UK and international video news features for our YouTube channel. As part of the video news features department, you would be responsible for producing stories that fit within one of three established video strands, On The Ground, The View From and Focus.
This is a 9-month fixed-term contract or internal staff secondment.
About the role
* Develop, shoot, direct and edit original video features for website and The Guardian YouTube channel
* Working with colleagues and external stakeholders to develop and pitch original stories that align editorially and stylistically with our established strands e.g On The Ground
* Shooting in the field, including interviews, actuality and observational footage, often in challenging or fast-moving environments from protests to humanitarian crises.
* Editing to a high editorial and visual standard, with strong narrative structure and pacing that engage audiences and drive watch time on YouTube
* Fact-checking and ensuring all content meets our editorial guidelines
* Managing production schedules and deadlines, often across multiple projects
About you
* Demonstrable experience in long-form video journalism and proven track record of producing, shooting and directing on the ground in challenging or fast paced environments
* Proven track record editing long-form videos to a high standard, that are optimised for YouTube audiences
* Strong knowledge of current industry standard video equipment (eg: Sony FX6) and post-production software (eg: Adobe Premiere)
* Experience of directing reporters/presenters on camera
* Strong storytelling and proven ability to find and develop topical but compelling stories across the world
* Experience reporting and fact-checking stories and characters
* A strong understanding of news values, editorial rigour, and a good knowledge of media law, alongside a love for video journalism
* Ideally, you'll have a demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to this role
