TidalSense is a respiratory technology company with a mission to transform the diagnosis, monitoring and management of chronic respiratory conditions, such as asthma and COPD. The company has ambitions to enable a population-scale change in respiratory care through global deployment of its technologies. TidalSense has launched the first-of-its-kind AI-driven (software medical device) diagnostic test for COPD which uses the company’s unique, patented, sensor technology embedded in the N-Tidal Handset medical device.
We are seeking a Management Accountant with strong analytical, communication, and organisational skills. We are at an exciting phase in our journey as we transition from a start-up to a scale-up. You will be joining a passionate, socially-motivated and multi-disciplinary team covering engineers, scientists, clinicians, designers, product and usability specialists. Please note this role is part-time: 24 hours per week.
Job Purpose
To play a key role in shaping the company’s financial health and operational efficiency. To execute budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cost analysis, helping the leadership team make data-driven decisions. To collate management accounts, and grant and CSR reporting, ensuring the business is compliant with our legal and contractual obligations.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Accountable for executing key management accounting tasks, including:
o Running the sales ledger ensuring customers are billed promptly in accordance with internal procedures and credit terms are adhered to
o Managing the purchase ledger and outsourced bookkeepers ensuring payments are made efficiently and smooth running of the ledger
o Ensuring the trial balance and associated reporting is updated on a monthly basis including monthly accruals and prepayments schedules and other balance sheet reconciliations
o Assisting with monthly payroll
o Preparing monthly management accounts, forecasts, and variance analyses
o Supporting the annual budgeting process and quarterly reforecasting
o Providing monthly reports to heads of departments tracking expenditure against budget
o Supporting development and refining of financial models to evaluate business performance and new initiatives
o Other adhoc finance and admin tasks as required
* Delivering financial reporting to ensure legal and contractual compliance, including:
o Maintaining accurate and timely financial records in accordance with accounting standards
o Supporting the year-end reporting including the provision of information for the external audit, statutory accounts and corporation tax return
o Preparing management reports, KPI dashboards, and board presentations
o Assisting with external audits and grant reporting
o Assisting with investor queries and reporting, including CSR reporting
* Supporting process improvement within the Finance function, including:
o Supporting implementation of scalable financial systems and reporting tools
o Streamlining accounting workflows and strengthening internal controls
Requirements
Skills & Competencies
Essential:
* Strong analytical and Excel skills, including financial modelling skills
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Resilience and flexibility to work in a busy and changing / dynamic environment with ability to deal with workload peaks and troughs
* Ability to multi-task, organise, and prioritise work
* Pro-active with effective organisational skills and priority setting
* Knowledge of UK VAT
* Familiar with using generative AI tools (in work or personal context), preferably working with AI agent workflows
Desirable:
* Experience in a medtech or startup environment
* Experience in a manufacturing company
* Knowledge of R&D tax credits, grant funding, and medical device regulatory environments
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
* ACA / ACCA / CIMA (qualified or part-qualified) or equivalent professional certification
* 3+ years of experience in management accounting
Desirable:
* Experience with Xero and ApprovalMax
* Experience working in an early-stage or growth phase company
Other Requirements
* Legally eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship
* Will need to be able to work in person in the Cambridge office at least 60% of working hours

Salary £38,000-50,000 pa (pro-rated and depending on experience)
