Accounts Assistant | Onsite | Telford | £27,000 – £30,000 | Permanent Seymour John are proud to be partnering with a well-established business based in Telford to recruit a conscientious and solutions-focused Accounts Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to join a supportive finance team in a varied role offering both autonomy and collaboration. The Role You will provide general bookkeeping services within a niche industry. In addition to bookkeeping, you will process clients’ weekly sales reports, manage contractor payments, prepare Excel-based reporting, and support with break-even analysis and cashflow forecasting — all while meeting regular weekly deadlines. As an Accounts Assistant, your duties will include: * Processing supplier invoices and expense receipts/claims through Dext and publishing into QuickBooks * Creating sales invoices in QuickBooks * Completing bank reconciliations in QuickBooks, including contra payments * Processing credit card statements/receipts and balancing in QuickBooks * Reviewing other entries in QuickBooks to ensure sales and purchase invoices are categorised correctly and VAT is entered accurately * Preparing break-even analyses * Preparing and monitoring cashflows Accounts Assistant Requirements * Strong, hands-on experience with QuickBooks, including using multiple locations/departments to create Profit & Loss and other reports * Good knowledge of VAT — what can and cannot be reclaimed * Advanced Excel skills, including cashflow and budgeting experience * Knowledge of Dext (advantageous, but training can be provided) * Comfortable working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment * Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with clients at all levels * A patient, approachable attitude and a good sense of humour The Ideal Candidate * Previous experience in a finance or Accounts Assistant role * Solid understanding of accounting principles and ledgers * Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills * Confident working independently and collaboratively * Proficient in Excel and financial/accounting systems * Proactive, flexible, and able to support wider business functions * Adaptable and committed to meeting deadlines Please apply below
