Graduate Support staff – Psychology

Psychology Graduate – Secondary Schools (Sunderland, Durham, Gateshead & South Tyneside)

Are you a recent psychology graduate eager to begin your career in education? We are looking for motivated and empathetic graduates to join our Graduate Programme, with a clear pathway to train as a Cover Supervisor in secondary schools across Sunderland, Durham, Gateshead, and South Tyneside.

Join our mission to Make Life Kind in the classroom and beyond.

About the Role

As a Psychology Graduate, you’ll start by supporting pupils as a Learning Support Assistant, working closely with individuals and small groups to remove barriers to learning and boost student wellbeing. You’ll then progress with training into a Cover Supervisor role—delivering lessons, managing classroom behaviour, and supporting learners when teachers are unavailable.

This role is ideal if you:

1. Aspire to a career in teaching, educational psychology, or pastoral support.

2. Want hands-on experience in understanding behaviour, motivation, and learning strategies.

3. Are passionate about helping young people thrive both academically and emotionally.

Why Choose Milk Education?

Milk Education is a purpose-driven, eco-friendly supply agency committed to making a real difference in schools. We aim to be the most rewarding agency to work with and for.

Benefits to You:

4. Excellent daily rates of pay

5. Full training to become a Cover Supervisor

6. Ongoing CPD and professional development (behaviour management, SEN support, safeguarding)

7. 24/7 access to your personal consultant

8. Free lesson plans, psychology-informed strategies, and resources

9. Mental health and wellbeing support

10. Access to schools across Sunderland, Durham, Gateshead & South Tyneside

11. On-site parking at most school sites

Key Responsibilities

12. Support learners one-to-one and in small groups, applying psychology knowledge to aid progress.

13. Promote inclusion, positive behaviour, and emotional wellbeing in class.

14. Assist with planning and delivering engaging learning activities.

15. Step into a Cover Supervisor role once trained, delivering pre-set lessons.

16. Adapt resources and approaches to meet individual learner needs, including SEN and SEMH.

Who We’re Looking For

17. A graduate with a 2:2 or above in Psychology (or a related discipline)

18. Excellent communication skills and a natural ability to build rapport with young people

19. A positive, flexible mindset and eagerness to learn

20. Interest in education, behaviour, or mental health support
