Hours: 37.5 hours per week, various shifts including Saturdays. All MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working, including job share.
The Decontamination Unit provides a vital service reprocessing surgical instruments for use across all wards and departments within the trust.
Responsibilities include cleaning, inspecting, assembling, packing, sterilising, and distributing surgical equipment to Wards, Departments, Theatres, and Endoscopy.
Successful candidates will require attention to detail, eagerness, and the ability to learn. A comprehensive in-house training programme will be provided, which candidates are expected to complete.
The role is physically demanding, involving lifting heavy instrument sets, long periods of standing, and transporting theatre equipment around the hospital using trolleys.
The department operates 6 days a week, supported by an on-call service to meet hospital demands. The unit complies with ISO13485 Quality Management System. Previous experience with a Quality System is desirable but not essential.
