Role and service context
To participate in the provision of the in-house FM services to a specified area within the Trust, which may include in-patient areas and retail outlets: The FM services comprises of the cleaning, catering, portering, bed making and laundering services, however some of these services are unit specific. Therefore sections of this job description may not be relevant to all staff and will be identified where appropriate but are not exhaustive.
You must be aware of the important part you play in maintaining the environment to an excellent standard.
You must also be aware that your work will involve working alongside patients and occasionally interacting with them as you carry out your duties outlined below.

This is therefore a requirement of this role and will form part of our pre-employment checks.
Key responsibilities
* Domestic Service including Rapid Response (CAT): ensure wards/areas are cleaned in accordance with the work schedule, including vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, dusting, surfaces and fixtures, toilets, sinks, baths and showers, and kitchen cleaning.
* Restocking consumables and ensuring proper waste disposal, descaling taps, and adherence to cross-infection control through correct use of colour-coded equipment.
* Follow work schedules, report faults or issues affecting cleaning, and coordinate with supervisors to ensure schedules are manageable.
* Operate machinery safely, report faults promptly, and ensure equipment storage and security.
* Maintain cleanliness of waste, recyclables, and clinical waste handling in the correct manner.
* Food Services: assist with regeneration processes for cook-chill meals, ensure temperatures are recorded, and assist with meal service preparation and cleaning of utensils.
* Laundry Service (where applicable): launder patient clothing, duvets, curtains and ensure items are returned in acceptable condition; separate clean and dirty items to minimize cross-infection; maintain laundry equipment and cleanliness.
* Portering: deliver and collect items, assist with patient transport as required, maintain public areas, and support site operations including fire safety and emergency responses as trained.
* Other ad-hoc tasks as required, including site maintenance duties and assisting with deliveries and collections.
