We have an exciting opportunity for a driven Retail Sales Manager to spearhead growth in the Convenience Retail sector, focusing on independent store owners, shopfitting contractors, and retail equipment wholesalers. This is a high-impact role with strong autonomy and the opportunity to shape the future of our retail channel across key regions. Base and geographical area: You will be based at home with approximately 80% travel throughout the Midlands and North of the UK. There may be occasional travel to Scotland. There will be an average of one night overnight stay per week. The role: Reporting to the Head of Retail, you will proactively identify, engage, and secure new business opportunities with independent convenience retailers, shopfitters, and wholesalers through high-volume prospecting and relationship building. You’ll maintain and expand existing customer relationships, ensuring long-term loyalty and increased market share. Collaborating with the Head of Retail, you’ll define and execute a clear growth strategy aligned with company objectives and market trends and gather and analyse competitive insights to assess market potential, identify emerging opportunities, and inform strategic decisions. About you: As our Retail Sales Manager, you’ll be a seasoned sales professional with a proven track record in both B2B and B2C face-to-face selling. With experience within the building products sector and an established network of industry contacts, you’ll be a highly motivated self-starter, confident in dynamic selling environments and skilled in new business development. You’ll thrive on challenge, be driven by results, and possess the commercial acumen to identify and convert opportunities into long-term partnerships. As a largely autonomous, field-based position, success hinges on your ability to influence key decision-makers, from independent retail end users to project stakeholders such as contractors and wholesalers. The role demands a high level of resilience and tenacity, particularly given the competitive nature of the sector and geographical territory. Key requirements Proven track record in driving sales growth, with a highly sales-driven mindset. Well-developed experience of in-person cold calling as part of broader new business development activity. Commercially astute, with the ability to forecast accurately and translate numbers into actionable sales strategies Solid experience in a new business development or a senior sales capacity ideally in the Retail Sector Experience of the commercial interiors industry Excellent interpersonal skills and attitude Flexible, dynamic, and highly organised method of working Confident communicator – verbal and written Passion for providing excellent customer service What we offer in return Potential bonus of up to 35% of salary based on a mix of business performance and achievement of personal objectives.
