The Mechanical Design Engineer will work within the Engineering team to provide detailed design packs for standard and bespoke materials handling solutions.
The Design Engineer will be fully conversant with SolidWorks and AutoCAD to produce the General Arrangement drawing and an engineered solution in a format suitable for use as detailed manufacturing documentation, as per the customer's requirements.
A mechanical engineering background is key to understanding the fabrication and assembly processes, particularly in new product development.
Working closely with the Engineering Manager and Projects Team, this individual will be responsible for delivering the technical advice and support required from concept through to delivery and completion with a full standardisation process. Attention to detail, understanding of ISO quality standards and creative flair are essential.
Excellent mechanical engineering knowledge and understanding
Proven experience in 2d/3d CAD design in a similar environment
To be fully conversant with the latest engineering design concepts, engineering standards and disciplines, including hazardous area compliance (ATEX, CE and UL Directives).
Good understanding of manufacturing processes/techniques (sheet metal fabrication and welded fabrication)
Knowledge of the Company's products and their subsequent design requirements.
Assistance with the preparation and implementation of Technical Product information and specifications
Understanding of Health and Safety legislation related to design, incorporating risk assessments.
Need to liaise and communicate with all departments.

Key Responsibilities
Working from the given brief to complete the design elements of individual projects or R&D to ensure achievement of project milestones.
To have detail/design responsibility, including the production of the relevant parts lists (BOM’s), by utilising the Company’s Document management system.
Maintain document and version control of all drawings produced, issuing Engineering Change Notices where appropriate.
Ensure designs address critical market/client requirements for the product.
Produce quality general arrangement drawings and design to manufacture/ design for testing (DFM/DFT) drawings.
Contribute to design validation reviews.
Display problem-solving skills and possess an understanding of stainless steel fabrication, along with the ability to deliver the highest level of service at all times.
Assist in the specification of bought-out items and services, and ensure that all orders are fulfilled in compliance with their technical and contractual requirements, under the guidance of the Engineering Manager.
To assist the Engineering Manager with managing and implementing best practices for design and safety, engineering standards and reference data.
To assist the Engineering Manager with the standardisation of products throughout the range, including sales data, pricebooks, assembly data and costings.
Assistance with training/support/mentoring to team members and other departments.
