An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Optometrist to be embedded within our Ophthalmology Department.
The role will provide a range of core and specialist optometric services and extended roles supporting the Ophthalmology clinics.
The successful candidate would work as an autonomous practitioner in accordance with professional & regulatory body guidelines and codes of practice (The College of Optometrists and General Optical Council) and statutory Trust requirements.
Main duties of the job
* To participate in planning of services in the department and organisation of posts for more junior optometrists working the department towards post‑graduate qualifications.
* To support clinical audit, quality improvement and research.
* To undertake administrative duties ensuring safe and effective service delivery including patient triage and managing clinical queries from the community.
* To contribute to teaching of medical and non‑medical staff within the Ophthalmology department.
