This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical or EC&I Design Engineer to contribute to the delivery of sustainable, innovative, and high-quality building services projects in sectors such as healthcare, leisure, hospitality, and industry.
You'll join a highly skilled engineering team focused on designing distributed, renewable integration, and low-carbon energy systems. You'll be involved in the full project lifecycle—from site survey and concept through to detailed design, commissioning support, and handover.
Contract Details:
1. Duration: 6 months
2. IR35 Status: Inside IR35
3. Rate: £480-£520/day (depending on experience)
4. Location: Home based - Windsor office attendance 1-2 times/month + occasional UK-wide site visits
Key Responsibilities:
* Electrical design of LV distribution and renewable energy systems
* Electrical calculations (load estimation, cable sizing, protection devices)
* Integrating CHP, heat pumps, transformers, and district heating solutions
* Producing detailed design drawings (SLDs, cable schedules, panel layouts)
* Ensuring regulatory compliance (e.g., G99, G100, CDM 2015)
* Supporting construction, commissioning, and quality assurance
* Coordinating with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
Technical Requirements:
* Proficient in AutoCAD LT and Amtech (or similar software)
* Experience with building services or electrical/control systems
* Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA, BMS, and energy control systems
Advantageous:
* Knowledge of EPLAN, earthing, lightning protection, or metering
* Understanding of CDM regulations and safety in design best practices
Qualifications & Experience:
* Degree or HNC-qualified in Electrical Engineering (or related field)
* Experience in electrical design or installation within building services or renewables

* Excellent communication skills and confident client-facing presence
* Ability to work independently and take initiative across technical project phases
