This role involves designing, orchestrating, and maintaining scalable cloud infrastructure, collaborating with various teams to ensure reliable CI/CD pipelines, supporting disaster recovery, developing automation tools, monitoring system performance, creating technical documentation, ensuring cloud security and compliance, and staying updated on emerging cloud technologies.
Position Purpose
Cloud Engineers set up, operate, develop, evolve, and maintain cloud-centric platforms including IoT, Data Science Environments, and Software Delivery, along with satellite tools and environments like databases, machine learning frameworks, and container orchestration tools.
Major/Key Accountabilities
* Design, develop, and operate bespoke software tools, libraries, frameworks, and services in languages such as Go, C, C++, Rust.
* Engage with development teams to improve tooling and infrastructure, enabling scalability and feature development.
* Support and train users, maintain frameworks supporting the BRIX platform, and ensure robustness and scalability of tools.
* Contribute insights to data science and engineering teams, liaise with digital operations, and build CI/CD pipelines.
* Operate and monitor services in Kubernetes and AWS environments.
* Contribute to team capability building and create user documentation.
Experience:
* At least 5 years in Cloud Engineering or related fields.
* Experience with data science frameworks, CI/CD, databases (Postgres, TimescaleDB), polyglot programming (Python, Go, Julia), AWS, containers, Big Data, notebooks, GitOps, Linux scripting, and data science projects.
Skills & Knowledge:
* Knowledge of data science and dev ops frameworks, strong analytical and systems thinking skills, programming skills in Python, Go, Julia, or C/C++, attention to detail.
Essential Qualifications
BS degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, Physics, or equivalent.
Desirable Qualifications
* Experience with data recovery, database high availability, tuning, FinOps, IoT, and Edge interaction.
