The Role
Our client is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to play a pivotal role in expanding and optimising their mission-critical ecosystem of Data and Business Intelligence systems. This role will focus on delivering scalable solutions across data warehouses, data lakes, self-service BI tools, and data science/ML platforms, primarily using Oracle, Snowflake, and AWS.
The successful candidate will collaborate with business stakeholders and technology teams to deliver data solutions that drive value, while also leading and influencing cross-team collaboration.
Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and optimise data pipelines (ELT) and data models.
* Lead delivery of large-scale data warehouse, data lake, and BI solutions.
* Drive improvements across the existing technology landscape.
* Oversee data ingestion, architecture, and modelling (e.g. Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, Data Vault).
* Collaborate with both in-house and third-party teams across multiple locations.
* Ensure robust data integration using replication software such as DMS.
* Apply Python coding skills, particularly with AWS APIs.
* Support the development of data science and machine learning capabilities.
* Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to colleagues.
Qualifications
* Strong expertise in data pipelines/ELT development and performance tuning.
* Advanced SQL skills.
* Proven experience designing and delivering large-scale data warehouse, data lake, and BI solutions.
* Solid information architecture skills and experience with modelling approaches.
* Hands-on experience with enterprise analytics databases (e.g. Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, Snowflake).
* Working knowledge of AWS services (IAM, Lambda, S3).
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
* Ability to work independently, managing a varied workload effectively.
* Experience with MLOps.
* In-depth knowledge of Oracle stack (database, analytics, ODI, GoldenGate).
* Knowledge of big data platforms and best practices.
